David Burge updates his journey with leukemia

Dave is back at home. He is mostly free from pain in his legs and he has had some improvement in his strength.

The neurologist looked at the results of all the tests. He came to the conclusion that the results are probably a combination of having cerebral palsy and side effects from the chemo. He thought it would be very unusual to have 3 conditions!

Sam is very much enjoying his job. He is hoping that he can get a permanent position either full or part time.

Rachel (14 years) has decided that she would like to go to school (as opposed to homeschooling). Dave and I have struggled with the idea. I didn’t really want to make any major changes just at the moment. However, I can see some advantages for her. I can understand her desire to try school because she has never been there. She will also enjoy school orchestra and other school activities. So next Monday we are off to Alfriston College to enrol her. It is within biking distance so she can take herself to and from school.

The younger boys are missing the space we had at our previous home. It was rural and they had a very large area in which to play including many trees to climb. I have to find more opportunities for them to burn off some energy because at the moment they are bouncing off the walls a little and driving me a little up them!
