David Burge updates his journey with leukemia

Visit to Hospital Delayed

with one comment

I was supposed to be going to hospital today to be given a drug with a name I can’t spell – and even if I looked it up you wouldn’t remember it. Turns out my liver function is a bit off and everything had to be okayed with my consultant. Everything is now set to go ahead tomorrow.

A friend of mine visited on Saturday with his mobility dog. O boy, the dog was mobile! He was not working that day. He ran in the front door (Ruth exited “stage left” trying to get the door closed as quickly as possible). The younger boys chased him out the back door and after a half hour or more of chasing balls and such, the dog quietly returned to his master’s feet for a well earned rest.

To find out about mobility dogs go to the mobility assistance dogs trust website. It appears that mobility dogs can even play golf.  All that being said, it is going to take a while to get Ruth to like dogs, no matter how clever they are.

  1. I was down at WEC HQ on Friday for Trustee and field committee meetings and met up with Jock who sends his warm greetings to you. Monday/Tuesday I went on prayer retreat by myself to Willow Park, Bucklands Beach. I regularly visit a lady in prison who has been chosen to train the mobility pups. She now has her fourth dog, and helps to train some new handlers. This newish scheme is a great success. Blessings on your hospital trip.
