David Burge Updates

David Burge updates his journey with leukemia

with 12 comments

David came home last night. I prepared the front bedroom: it has some flowers, a chair and the memorial book. Anyone who visits today can go to this quiet room and see Dave, perhaps write a few words, pray, think. If you don’t feel comfortable doing this, you are most welcome just to visit us in the lounge area and kitchen areas of the house.

  1. You are still in my prayers for your comfort from the Lord. It helps both the children and ourselves to bring our loved ones home, I know. I am going to Hamilton for the next few days but intend L.W. to be with you on Saturday. Much love, thoughts and prayers, Shelley.

  2. Thank you for opening your home and setting it up so nicely for guests.

  3. My previous comment doesn’t do justice to your work. You have turned a potentially awkward situation into a warm and welcoming one, and in my book that’s quite a feat 🙂

Today’s visit is in the ‘sad but precious’ category of memories. Thank you.

    May you find PEACE,

    your deepest need….

    May you find HOPE,
for God is present to assure you
of His guidance in the days ahead.”

    “You are in our THOUGHTS,

  5. Tarnya- you continue to be amazing- always thinking of others and their comfort and their needs.
What a beautiful thing you are doing for David’s friends and family. I pray that you will be encouraged by many testimonies of lives that you and David have affected, as you come across people in the coming few days. I hope you are looking after yourself along with all your guests- we are praying for you, and the children and the funeral plans.

  6. Dear Tarnya,

It sounds as though you have thought of everything, for Dave’s remembrance for those coming to the house. It reminds us of the woman in 2 Kings 4 who prepared the room for Elisha with bed,a table, a chair, and a lamp all so welcoming! We are sure those visiting will appreciate the book of remembrance for testimonies from the many lives God used Dave to touch in his ministry.
Our special love to you Tarnya at this time.

    Hi again from Bertin.

Will you mind sending the heartfelt condolensences from the DRC Advent Christian Conference as well as the Central Africa Region of Advent Christian Churches to Tanya and the whole of David Burge ‘s family as the result of Dave’s ?

It is such a big loss when Dave passes away and I was so chocked to learn about him passing away through the weekly news.

  11. Dear Tarnya & family,
We would like to say what a very beautiful service was arranged for David. There was the Word of God & wonderfully chosen portions, there was joy, an anwarness of the blessed Holy Spirit of God. Yes there was emotion which is good & there was order. Possibly the most triumphant funeral service we have experienced. We brought a friend with us, someone who has never known David. While driving home they said to us “I really felt as though I knew David”.
May the Lord be very close to you Tarnya & the family each day.
Christians have that wonderful promise of the Lord “I will never leave you or forsake you”.
    Much love in Messiah Jesus.

  12. A Sunser on Earth is a Sunrise in Heaven. I embrace you tenderly with my thoughts and prayers during this time as I ponder, even through the sorrow, the eternal glory that has dawned for your precious Loved one.

May our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace,
comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word. 2 Thessalonians 2: 16-17.
