David Burge Updates

David Burge updates his journey with leukemia

We Remember: One year on.

with 7 comments

Yesterday we laid our hand print mosaics at Dave’s headstone. Mine is the multicoloured one. Vicki and Philip brought coke to share (Dave’s favourite drink).
After Dave died, I received a lovely letter from another widow. She wrote that at first the horribleness of the illness and the suffering had dominated her memories but in time the happy memories came back come back. They do 🙂
I am very grateful to have walked life’s path with Dave for almost 18 years.

In the word of Dave “Don’t wait for cancer to change your perspective. Live fully today.

Taste and see that the Lord is good. I have been so loved and blessed by friends and family who have helped me this last year. Thank you.

May God richly bless you!

  1. Hi Tarnya,
We have been very conscious of you these past few days as July 4th approached.
We were not sure you were having any memoriam. Checked the website July 3rd & there was nothing like you have now posted. So pleased to see this today. We love the mosaic hand print idea, plus the appropriate headstone & family names.
May the Lord continue to bless & use you in His service in the year ahead.

  2. The hand prints are a lovely idea.

This is why Tarnya says “maranatha”:

13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. 15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words. 1 Thes 4 NASB

For me there are three happy (and sad) photos that sum up Dave’s life (click on the words):

    Wife

Children (here I was spoiled for choice)

    Ministry

    • I should have said ..photos that sum up the major aspects of Dave’s life.

Of course no photo can sum up his impact on my life and his impact on other people’s lives.

  3. Dear Tarnya,

Thank you for sharing this with us, it is very moving. It’s good to know that the unpleasant memories are dimming. May the Lord continue to bring His healing and peace to all your hearts.
